Abstract:
Tax Increment Financing (TIF) locations. The dataset contains locations and attributes of TIF areas, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
A database provided by the Office of the Chief Financial Officer identified TIF area locations. The dataset is a result of research conducted on the DC Official Code Site.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose:
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.
Supplemental_Information:
TIF areas for the most part were created by tracing the referenced property squares in the DC Code. Some TIF area descriptions such as retail areas, provided street information. For example, "all property squares facing 7th street NW from G street to Indiana Avenue." In cases such as this all property squares facing said street were included in the TIF. Other instances involved "near by alleys" as a part of the TIF area. For these cases the entire block was included in the TIF by tracing the road polygons. Finally, coordinate geometries were provided for the Fort Lincoln Retail area which resulted in a detailed boundary. Users of this data should keep in mind that all TIF areas had different boundary information, and therefore have different accuracies.
