Speed Camera locations. The dataset contains locations and attributes of speed cameras, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose:
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.
Supplemental_Information:
The Metropolitan Police Department announced today the deployment of new photo enforced locations beginning on or about September 1, 2011.
The deployment locations for the Photo Enforcement Units will continue to be at sites with the highest number of crashes and injuries, calls for police service, and high speed volume. MPD also considered recommendations or requests from the Department of Transportation, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions and civic or citizen associations.
The thirty-day educational phase will commence on or about September 1, 2011, whereas violators will receive warning citations. On October 1, 2011, MPD will begin issuing live moving citations to violators. The new photo enforcement locations are as follows:
1. 1900 block of Independence Avenue SE east bound - speed limit 25 mph 2. Military Road .2 miles west of the 16th Street ramp NW southwest bound - speed limit 35 mph 3.
