Public Housing Areas. The dataset contains locations of Public Housing Building areas created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

The DC Housing Authority provided a list of public housing addresses as part of the Census LUCA project. Staff goecoded the points to the Master Address Repository. Then, the planimetrics buildings were spatially selected from the public housing address points.
From these source layers, staff outlined each public housing area using the property lines. Staff connected property lines across streets and other features to make one polygon dilineating the area.

OCTO GIS staff used the public housing listing and maps contained on the DC Housing Authority website to update these layers. Owner polygons were used in some cases to delineate these areas.

DCHA provided a list of all DCHA properties, including basic information about funding source (whether it was specially funded or not), and address. DCHA also provide limited information about building site via site plan documentation. DC GIS geocoded addresses using the MAR to generate point locations for all properties. Address points for DCHA sites were matched against Owner Polygon layer and site plans to determine approximate property footprint [not building footprint]. Data were also compared against existing public housing dataset to identify properties that previously existed versus new properties.
DC GIS staff updated the existing PublicHousingPly table to include the fields "Mixed_Finance" and "OldName"
