Other Bus Stops. This dataset contains bus stops for other bus lines, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
Data provided by several bus companies and organizations listed bus stops for public routes supplemental to WMATA bus lines.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose:
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington by local government agancies.

Staff placed the other bus line stops using the 2005 Orthophoto and planimetric sidewalks within DC as guides. Outside DC, regional streets were used along with the bus line websites and maps as reference information. The bus stops are placed as closely as possible to the location given on the website, but some will not be as accurate due to nebulous source materials. All stop and line names are taken from the websites.
These bus lines represent the stops of non-WMATA bus lines available without membership, affiliation, or other identification. Stops included are from the Circulator, Georgetown Connector, Georgetown University GUTS Bus, Kennedy Center Shuttle, Old Town Trolley, and Tourmobile bus lines.
The lines are coded by Type of "Tourist," meaning a for-profit bus service that generally includes narration, and "Shuttle," meaning a non-profit bus service. The Georgetown University GUTS Bus and the Kennedy Center Shuttle appear in other bus stops ONLY because their websites do not show the actual routes taken.
