Abstract:
Child Care Sites. This dataset contains points representing child care locations, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
Child care locations were identified from Department of Health records, then geocoded and heads-up shifted to the appropriate building(s).
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose:
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.

Child care sites were identified from a database the D.C. Department of Health provided. A point shapefile was created by geocoding the addresses to the DC Master Address Repository (MAR). Addresses that did not initially geocode to the MAR were researched, validated, and verified, then added to the MAR and located in the child care layer.
