Abstract:
District of Columbia boundary. The dataset is a polygon representing the District of Columbia boundary, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies.
The boundary was created by connecting all of the boundary stone locations into a single polygon.
All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
METADATA CONTENT IS IN PROCESS OF VALIDATION AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Purpose:
This data is used for the planning and management of Washington, D.C. by local government agencies.

Process_Description:
OCTO GIS staff used arcgis desktop to connect all of the boundary stones into three lines covering the north east and west portions of the District. The western boundary of the potomac, acquired from the water layer, was used to complete the boundary. Staff intersected the water and lines at the western most location still in the water but near to Virginia.
